Info
Born and raised in Northern California, Joy Newell spent her childhood enjoying a simple, quiet upbringing in the small town of Lakeport, CA. Uprooted to suburban Yucaipa in 2002, Joy began her photography business on a whim after an inspiring trip to Seattle later that year.
In her early teens, Joy found endless inspiration in her friends and family and started selling her photographs internationally and also began to contribute to grassroot publications including Prim Magazine and N.E.E.T. Magazine.
In 2008, Joy visited China and released a book showcasing atypical travel photographs. A couple months later, Joy was approached by John Troxel, the Editor in Chief of INK Magazine, and asked to contribute as Photo Editor.
In addition to working for INK Magazine, Joy currently manages her own business as a freelance photographer.
